Beginings of bow tie
In Western civilization, men started to decorate their outfit by adding pieces of fabric around their neck since seventeenth century.  Like always, details changed frequently over the time, but the idea to rib around the neck a tie or a bow tie to make the suit look more elegant stayed.
At first it was called cravat. Most likely it came from Croatian military uniform and were adapted in European outwear gradually evolved to the forms we’re familiar with. Variety of shapes and fabric was uncountable, how surprising this elements survived by now.
Bow tie rules
It’s important to remember, that true elegant will never make an appearance in bow tie that’s pre-tied or so called ‘ready tied’. Those kind of accessories are considered kitsch especially wearing on a formal event is found as faux pas.
The bow tie is very characteristic accessory in men’s wardrobe. It can be identify with someone’s personality or with his profession: for example lawyers, architects or professors. A perfect bow tie should suit personality of its owner, size of the body and head and of course occasion.
